Outpatient Treatment and GroupsWe provide continuous care treatment options through groups, individual and family education, and community connections.
Our approach to outpatient care is to provide continuous care treatment options through groups, individual and family education, and community connections. We strive to decrease or eliminate relapse that results in readmission to treatment by creating a robust web of treatment providers and services at SunCloud and in your community. We are unique in that we work with our patients to create and adapt an individualized, continuous care plan, based on their ongoing needs and treatment goals.
Individual psychotherapy is provided on an ongoing basis to those who would benefit. Each of our respected and caring therapists bring a wealth of knowledge and experience in the treatment of addictions, trauma, mood and eating disorders. All of our therapists are relationally oriented and highly trained. Our clinical team utilize a variety of treatment modalities including Somatic Experiencing, DBT, ACT, Client-Centered, Mindfulness, and specialized addiction treatment.
Group psychotherapeutic work is a pillar of our outpatient services. Most groups are open-ended with some designed as series to offer particular therapeutic skills. We strive for experiential, process and insight orientated group spaces, that are safe and recovery community driven.

Athletes and Addiction (to include eating disorders) with Dr. Kim Dennis MD
Description coming soon.
This group, based on principles of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), will help foster meaningful change through a combination of experiential exercises, discussion, take home assignments, use of metaphor, and psycho-education. Group members will experience and practice acceptance as an active process, discuss differences between living a meaningful versus a happy life, work on uncovering and discovering what they want their lives to be about, and will create commitments in the service of their goals and values.
Finding people to connect with is hard for anyone. Many people struggling with mental illness have an especially difficult time with relationships, as they have lost many of the connections in their lives after having spent months or even years withdrawing from others as one way of coping with their pain. This group is all about reconnecting with others, building meaningful connections with healthy supports, and having fun. This group will change based on the group’s needs and desires, but there will be an equal emphasis on therapeutic processing as a group, as well as therapeutic outings intended to foster socialization; and help those with Anxiety or Depression to practice taking their fears, discomfort, or phobias with them in order to live by their values and do what matters to them.
Foundations of Recovery: Steps 1, 2 and 3 with Shale Marks, MSW, CADC (any adult)
A psycho-educational and experiential process group designed to create the building blocks of the recovery process for those in the beginning of their recovery, and those looking to deepen their experience of the first three steps in the 12-step model. Participants are encouraged to utilize the support group dynamic while focusing on their individual progress. Mastering the first three steps is crucial to understanding why addiction occurs, learning the mechanics of how to cope with it and preparing the group member to return to wholeness, build trust in relationships, break destructive patterns and become an active participant in their own lives.

This ongoing group allows teens to better understand interpersonal relationships and family dynamics as they go through the recovery process. Members will experience the safety and power of facilitated peer-group discussions to identify obstacles that may arise in the family system and in peer relationships, how to successfully navigate through the ups and downs of teen life, how to discover one’s true identity, how to have fun in recovery and finding a balance in daily life.

Note: Once per month, this group will include a multifamily didactic component, as part of our commitment to family well being and supporting the individual in his/her environment.
Process Addiction Group with Dr. Marcia Nickow, PsyD., CADC, CGP
People frequently self-medicate painful life experiences by engaging in so-called “process addictions.” This ongoing process group will help people gain insight into struggles with such process or behavioral addictions as spending/debting, gambling, work, activity, relationships, sex, codependency, and anger/rage. Connections between process and substance addictions as well as eating disorders will be illuminated.
Sex, Love and Relationships with Dr. Marcia Nickow, PsyD., CADC, CGP
Adverse or traumatic childhood experiences often lead to addictive patterns with, or avoidance of, sex and love relationships. Fearing intimacy due to attachment wounds, individuals may compulsively escape in sex, romance or fantasy, or may become trapped in relationships characterized by hyper-dependency. The thrill of sexual adventure and intensity of love prevents authentic experience and commitment. This on-going group will help people change obsessional, avoidant and other self-sabotaging relationship patterns.
Spirituality and Imperfection with Dr. Marcia Nickow, PsyD., CADC, CGP
Spirituality is a universal concept, applicable not just to sages, saints, gods, and religions folk, but to everybody experiencing the challenge and gift of being alive. All people, philosopher-psychologist William James once said, suffer from “torn-to-pieces-hood,” and to be human is “to feel at times divided, fractured, pulled in a dozen directions….” This ongoing process group will provide a safe therapeutic space to gain spiritual insight and awareness while fostering connection with others. Members will discover pathways to serenity and healing from anguish, insecurities, imperfections–the defects and limitations that are part of our nature as human beings.
Jewish Spirituality (adults of any Jewish background) with Dr. Beth Fishman, PhD
ANNOUNCING A NEW GROUP FOR FAMILIES- Wednesdays from 5:00-6:15 pm.
Addictions, eating disorders and psychological trauma impact entire family systems. Frequently, the families develop dysfunctional roles, enmeshed boundaries, intimacy fears and unhealthy communication patterns. This weekly multifamily group provides a safe therapeutic space for family members of people receiving or considering services at SunCloud Health to embark on their own journeys, with authenticity and transparency.
Families consciously and unconsciously transmit destructive coping strategies, such as addiction, to the next generation. Thankfully, transformative recovery experiences can be passed on to up-and-coming generations, creating cultures of resilience for family members in place of cultures of despair. This group will offer the possibility of recovery from codependent behaviors as well as life-changing explorations for all participants. It will also provide a forum for families to share in their experiences, and to learn from others on how to both heal themselves and support their loved ones in their recovery.
Included for families with patients in SCH IOP Program
45.00/family for all other families.
